The question this card brings forward
Would I still defend this plan if the people affected understood how it works?
A pattern to examine
Reversed, an avoided truth may need to be spoken, or a clever workaround may no longer work. Clear advice can help reveal the gap between a strategy and an excuse.
A short journal exercise
Use a specific situation so reflection stays connected to something you can recognize and change.
- Describe one recent moment related to the question, using events rather than a label about your character.
- Name what you were trying to protect, gain, or avoid in that moment.
- Write a second response you could try next time that preserves a real need without repeating the same cost.
Move from reflection to practice
Identify the conversation your strategy is avoiding and decide what needs to be said.
Write down the question you are really asking, especially when a more comfortable question keeps replacing it.
