Privacy Policy

Introduction

Serpents Way ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website serpentsway.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website.

Information We Collect

We may collect information about you in a variety of ways:

  • Personal Data: Email address when voluntarily provided for a notebook account, newsletter signup, privacy request, or product purchase; notebook content when you choose to save it to your signed-in account.
  • Usage Data: Browser type, operating system, access times, pages viewed, and referring URL, collected automatically through analytics services.
  • Cookies: We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track activity on our website and store certain information.

How We Use Your Information

The free guide is delivered when you request it. The optional, unchecked email choice on the guide form records separate permission to receive tarot lessons and occasional product offers. Leaving it blank does not subscribe you to marketing. You can unsubscribe from marketing messages at any time using the link in the email.

  • To deliver and improve our services
  • To send you emails related to products or services you have expressed interest in
  • To analyze website usage and improve user experience
  • To detect and prevent fraud

Search and Private Notebooks

Site search runs in your browser. The search page does not load analytics, session recording, or advertising, and uses an origin-only referrer policy when you follow a result. Search terms can still appear in your address bar, browser history, and the website host’s request logs.

Daily Practice, the guided course, and the two-card study tool offer a guest notebook and an optional signed-in notebook. As a guest, saved writing stays in your browser. Daily Practice uses browser local storage; the course and two-card tool use separate browser databases. Clearing site data, storage eviction, or losing access to that browser profile can remove guest notes. Other people using the same browser profile may be able to read them.

When you sign in and press Save, we send the entry over HTTPS to our website server and store it in Supabase under your account. This includes the writing, selected cards or lesson, and saved date needed to reopen the entry on another device. Daily Practice keeps up to 100 dated entries, the course keeps seven lesson entries, and the two-card tool keeps one current draft. Unsaved edits stay on the page. Signing in does not automatically upload guest notes: you can review and choose to add saved device notes, with existing account entries preserved.

Account notes are private to your account under database access rules; they are not public posts. They are not end-to-end encrypted. The website operator and infrastructure providers may process them to operate and support the service. Our notebook database is hosted in the United States. Avoid putting sensitive personal information about yourself or other people in a tarot notebook.

Signing In and Signing Out

Supabase manages your account identity, and Resend sends a code to the email address you provide. Requesting a code does not subscribe you to marketing. Codes expire after ten minutes. Our Hostinger server keeps the provider session credentials in private server files; the browser receives a secure, HTTP-only session cookie that can keep you signed in for up to 30 days. We use short-lived protected identifiers derived from email and IP addresses to limit repeated requests.

Signing out clears the account editor on that page and ends that website session. It does not delete saved account entries, guest copies, downloaded files, or sessions on other devices. On a shared device, sign out and close other notebook tabs when finished.

Downloading and Deleting Notes

Download my notes creates a readable text copy on your device. Advanced backup options provide JSON files for restoring compatible notes. Downloads and backup previews are processed in your browser. A backup is sent to your account only when you confirm an account import or save an opened draft. Downloaded files and guest copies remain under your control.

You can delete saved entries from each tool. Account deletion removes the entry’s saved content; a record of its key, revision, and deletion time remains to prevent an old tab or backup from restoring it without your knowledge. Request records used to prevent duplicate saves contain metadata, not notebook content, and are pruned after 90 days when the notebook is used. To request deletion of your entire notebook account and associated records, email info@serpentsway.com from the account address. We may verify the request before acting.

Notebook Analytics

Daily Practice, the course, and the two-card tool do not load advertising or session recording. We measure general actions such as drawing a card, saving or exporting notes, completing a lesson, and opening the workbook page. These events use fixed choices or lesson numbers, never your email, writing, selected cards, or backup contents. Notebook analytics use fixed page addresses and titles with no incoming query string or referring address. An interest button does not place an order, subscribe you, or authorize a charge.

Purchases and Download Recovery

Stripe processes payments. We keep the purchase email, product, payment status, order identifier, and delivery status so we can verify access and help you recover a digital purchase. When purchase emails are enabled, Resend delivers download links to the address used at checkout. Requesting a download link does not subscribe you to marketing emails.

We also attach a general website section, such as Daily Practice, the free course or a card guide, to checkout and the verified order so we can understand which parts of the site lead to purchases. This label does not include your writing, selected cards, search terms or the full referring address.

The recovery page does not load analytics, advertising, or session recording. It does not publicly reveal whether an address has an order. We use protected identifiers derived from the requesting IP address and email to limit repeated requests. Keep your private order and download links secure; anyone with a working link may be able to use it.

Third-Party Services

We may use third-party service providers including:

  • Google Analytics (analytics)
  • Microsoft Clarity (session recording and heatmaps)
  • Supabase (notebook accounts and private saved notes)
  • Hostinger (website hosting and private sign-in sessions)
  • Resend and other email service providers (requested sign-in codes, newsletter, and purchase delivery)

Google AdSense and Advertising Cookies

We use Google AdSense to display advertising. Google and other third-party advertising providers may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this website and other websites, measure ad performance, and help prevent fraud. Google advertising cookies can enable personalized ads based on your interests.
