Read a direction, then examine its conditions

The Two of Cups is reciprocal attention: two people meet with enough openness to recognize each other. It can describe romance, friendship, repair, or a useful partnership. Look for the exchange itself rather than assuming that attraction automatically creates equality.

Use an outcome position responsibly

An outcome card can summarize where a pattern seems to lead if relevant conditions continue. It cannot guarantee an event or tell you what another person will choose.

  1. Name the present pattern that the card appears to describe.
  2. Consider what could disrupt or complicate that pattern: Reversed, the exchange may be uneven, interrupted, or based on different expectations. Restoring connection starts with naming the mismatch rather than insisting that closeness should erase it.
  3. Identify a choice that remains open to you: Offer a clear invitation and leave room for an equally clear response.
