Use an outcome position responsibly

An outcome card can summarize where a pattern seems to lead if relevant conditions continue. It cannot guarantee an event or tell you what another person will choose.

1. Name the present pattern that the card appears to describe.
2. Consider what could disrupt or complicate that pattern: Reversed, sharp perception may harden into cynicism, or a necessary truth may be withheld to avoid seeming difficult. Aim for accurate words rather than either a cutting verdict or silence.
3. Identify a choice that remains open to you: Say the necessary truth plainly and remove the sentence meant only to wound or apologize for having a boundary.
